Teaching Methodology:

Our JC Physics classes are taught by our founder and industry practitioner Mr. Jack Wang. With an extreme passion in Physics and Engineering, he is able to demonstrate the applications of Physics to everyday life and to exam questions. Never be bogged down by difficult Physics concepts again!

Tutor's Introduction:

I delight in the discovery of new knowledge and its subsequent applications in the engineering field. Growing up with a strongly inquisitive mind about the field of physics, I actively seek to pass on this knowledge and the passion to my students. Today, as an active professional in the engineering services sector, I could relate to the lessons learnt back in secondary school. The concepts that lie behind the engineering applications and problem solving remain unchanged. However, the student environment today is mostly unable to reconcile the application of the knowledge attained in school to the uses in the real working world. As a tutor, I spare no chances to share these valuable experiences, to the extent I would use real life examples back into creating syllabus related questions to invoke the thinking of my students.

Teaching Methodology:

Primary school mathematics may be intimidating to most children but with the right help given, every child can excel in maths! My responsibility is to assist them in understanding the questions and teaching them the different techniques to solve each question. Every maths question can be solved in a systematic way. I am sure with my help and their hard work, every child will be able to maneuver through all the different 'system' and improve by leaps and bounds!

Teaching Methodology:

I am passionate about teaching Mathematics from Primary to JC levels, and have been giving tuition since 2011. Solving Mathematics problems involve logical thinking skills, which I try to impart to students. I believe that understanding the concepts thoroughly helps students to remember the topics more easily. Furthermore, understanding each concept allows them to see the link or application between two topics if they are related. Generally, I teach by examples, as they tend to give a fuller picture of the topic. Also, applications of concepts are illustrated in examples. To ensure they understand the concepts, they’re given different types of questions to practice on. Through explanation of the ideas behind each question, I teach them to identify the methods used to solve each type of problem. This is important, especially when questions appear similar but actually involve different concepts, and hence require different methods to solve.

I have years of experience in private one-on-one tutoring and teaching primary and secondary level, and Adult, English. I am also a creative writer and freelance article writer. My focus in tutoring is encouraging students to understand how English, as a language, can be used in daily life and to enable them to express themselves via verbal and written mediums effectively. Creativity is ALWAYS encouraged. I believe that each student learns differently so the method I use varies and is customized in accordance to what is needed. I am also a firm believer that there is no such thing as a stupid question, only inappropriate ones. My lessons are on a ground-level two-way basis as I am a firm believer that life is an ever-growing and ever-learning process, I am always in the process of learning, upgrading and improving myself and my teaching methods. Student feedback is ALWAYS welcome and encouraged.

Teaching Methodology:

The methodology of CELTA is student-centered learning. It motivates students to want to learn on their own. Instructions are short, clear and concise and materials are planned to encourage discovery by the students. The students are given the autonomy to find things out on their own and this provides them with the motivation to learn. We as teachers play the role of facilitator and clarify any errors which the students might make. The classes are conducted in a "safe environment", where the students are not questioned immediately after a task but are encouraged to check with their partners in class before the teacher checks the answer with the class. I taught pre-intermediate and upper intermediate classes. There were lots of research involved in the preparation of lessons. There were also assignments which encompass all the teaching techniques learnt during the course. Tutorials and regular feedbacks also improved the delivery and execution of my lessons. I paced my lessons according to the tutees’ capabilities so that they are encouraged to use the language on their own.

Teaching Methodology:

I have 5 years of experience in the Pre-school industry. My most recent role as a Preschool educator was in PCF Kindergarten as a K2 form teacher. Guiding and facilitating children's learning was what I did every day. As I deal with younger children, it is not hard for me to explain and share information and ideas using simple terms, examples or even stories to help children understand better. I am patient with children and I spend time helping children to understand concepts.

I am a connoisseur of the arts with a knack for the sciences. My goal is to enable students to understand Physics as more than just a set of formulas, but as a complex and abstract entity that constantly challenges the boundaries of human knowledge. A strong foundation is key for any concept heavy subject and by delivering just that, I enable my tutees to think independently and successfully tackle the most challenging of questions. My teaching methods vary depending on the needs and pace of each individual student and by simplifying complicated concepts, imparting examination skills and revealing tips and tricks, I seek to provide students with a solid foundation that will see them through any test or examination. Also, I like keeping fish and drawing.

In my opinions, mathematics is a very interesting subject as it is challenging yet intriguing. When we are solving mathematics problems, it usually takes more time to solve one problem than other subjects. After we finally realized it is the right answer, we felt immense satisfaction and pleasure. However, sometimes we have no ideas how to start to tackle the problem, staring blankly to the questions while we are getting more and more frustrated. It is not our faults, but we have not learned the right way to think about mathematics. I encountered this situation many times and managed to get through it. I believed that with patience and confidence, doing mathematics can have a lot of fun. During my tutoring with students, I am very patient to answer any questions from the student. There is no stupid question in the world and when they ask questions during classes, I will know more about the area which they are not proficient at and put more focus to that area. I also think that practice makes perfect and I will prepare some extra practice questions for the students. Human makes mistakes. With more practices, we will be able to improve our accuracy and proficiency. On the other hand, it is always good to try some challenging questions so that we can improve and reach beyond our limits. I hope more students will like mathematics.

I have a strong passion in working with children and i believe patience is key when dealing with them. Based on my one-year experience in tutoring lower primary students, i find it easier to maintain their attention and increase their concentration via a reward system. I usually start off the lesson by reviewing concepts learnt previously, then moving on to new concepts of the day. I will then guide the students along some questions and then leave them to try the rest. My personal favorite subject is mathematics as I find solving challenging questions fun and interesting.

Having experienced teaching in a school environment, I find myself enjoying the teaching process immensely. I have learnt many things about teaching through my 9 weeks stint as an intern teacher, understanding the demands of different profiles of students as I work towards customizing my teaching style to suit the needs of different students. However, in general, I believe in intensive practice as well as consistent reading would help improve a student’s command of language. Furthermore, succinct and easy to understand explanations have to be given to cement the student’s understanding of the issue at hand. I also believe that using diagrammatic and systematic methods of presentation would help the student absorb different concepts easier. I hope to induce the love for learning in students that I teach to further their intellectual curiosities.
